AGFinancial Arena
Evangel University marked a significant milestone in its athletic development by breaking ground on the 70,000-square-foot AGFinancial Arena on October 28, 2023. This state-of-the-art sports complex is set to become the centerpiece of the university’s athletic programs, hosting basketball, volleyball, football, and soccer events.
The arena itself encompasses 40,000 square feet and will feature a home-game court that meets collegiate regulations, along with two full cross courts designed for practices and tournaments. The facility will include four VIP lounge and box suites, enhancing the spectator experience, while the concourse will offer concessions and gathering spaces, along with support and staffing offices, locker rooms, and meeting rooms. With a seating capacity expected to be around 1,300, AGFinancial Arena promises to deliver an engaging environment for fans and athletes alike.
Adjacent to the arena, the Randy Rowden Training Facility will occupy an additional 30,000 square feet on the south side of the Valor Center. This facility is designed to support Evangel’s football and soccer programs and will feature VIP box seating overlooking the north end zone of Coryell Field. It will house athletic director offices, a cutting-edge strength training room, an athletic medicine hub, and a versatile 2,500-square-foot multipurpose room suitable for various campus events and meetings.
To foster a vibrant campus atmosphere, AGFinancial Arena's south entrance plaza will serve as a venue for student gatherings before and after games. Additionally, plans for extra parking near the north entrance will ensure convenient access for attendees.
The AGFinancial Arena and the Randy Rowden Training Facility are two major components of Evangel University’s ambitious Here. Now. campaign, a $24 million fundraising initiative launched this summer. This campaign also includes the complete remodel of Walther Hall dormitory and the installation of a lighted artificial turf intramural field.
These projects collectively represent the first significant building efforts on Evangel’s campus since the construction of the Ralph M. Riggs Administration Building in 2009. With the AGFinancial Arena set to open its doors in September 2024, the future of athletics at Evangel University is brighter than ever, promising an enhanced experience for students and the Springfield community.
